Cooling System. |
My team designed a cooling system for this project to resolve some students complained about at BSB resident hall. This portable cooling system was made of a foam cooler and laser-cut acrylic pieces. The user will put ice into the cooling system, and ice will act as a coolant when box fan at the other end blows air through those acrylic ice holders. This was the first team project I did at Rose-Hulman. I was clear about what to design and how we should approach the final product. Therefore, I played a role as a team leader. This project involved both design and manufacturing, so time management and team efficiency in out-of-class meetings and in-class work became more significant. The meeting minute attached illustrates that members were assigned to the appropriate task after a meeting and decided with my team on which topic to discuss for our next meeting so that they could prepare for it before the next meeting. Throughout the three years at Rose-Hulman, I did many team projects after this, and I realized the biggest problem in a team project was lack of efficiency. Even though I prefer to work alone at my own pace, as an engineer, it is inevitable to work with others as a team, and leadership skills become as crucial as the technical skills.
